Promotion..that is the Question....

Promotion the question is??? to or not!!!
Ok....I Know many of you were very confused this past week about whether your child was going to be promoted or not promoted. I also know that you received several letters, some saying yes some saying no. I just want to say this, that I am so very sorry to have made a really fun time for your children a very stressful time for you and your child. We have been so busy looking for teachers that time got away from us concerning the procedures of promotion. I apologize and say to you all that this will never happen again. Now I am sure I will make more mistakes but I promise the mistakes will not be about promotion! One of our major problems that we encountered was that our basic list of all of the children was not correct. Since I do not know every child at PV yet I was not aware that some were left off. This too will not happen again because Children's Ministry is going to have our own data base with each child's name, address, e-mail, allergies and family contact. So as far as promotion this is the final word....nursery added a class because of numbers. It is the Jonah Class and it is for older nursery children and it is held in the old Brides Room which was also once a nursing mothers room, I am told Room 110. Anyway that is Jonah Children who were not in any of the 2 year old classes but were born in 2006 will be in this class. Children who were born in January of 2007 through March of 2007 will be in Baby Jesus in the Baby Jesus Room which is room 109. children born from June of 2007-December of 2007 will be in Noah which is in the room called Noah Room 108. now if you child cannot sit up yet and you do not feel comfortable with them in this room then they should be in the Creation class which is in the old Jonah room room 107. The Creation class is for our youngest babies newborns through 6 to around 9 months. We are working with the Day School and Day Care to get the room Name Plates changed so this will not be so confusing. Thank you for your patience as we go through this transition and your help and support is always asked for. If you or anyone you know is interested in teaching our children PLEASE contact us. I certainly don't want to have to close a class and re-arrange everyone Again.......Thanks, Miss. Kathy
By the way 2's,3's and 4's did not promote....they will in Sept. the kindergarten class did move up to PLUGG

Words Parents should speak to their Children

I was reading this great article and the writer feels that there are seven phrases or words that Parents must speak to their children to help them be who God wants them to be. They are:

  1. I believe in you
  2. You can count on me
  3. I treasure you
  4. I'm sorry, please forgive me
  5. Because
  6. No
  7. I love you

Sometimes when you are a parent you get caught up in what needs to get done rather than taking the time to focus on one of your greatest responsibilities and mission in life, which is raising your children the way God wants you to. Time goes so fast and your children will be grow before you blink twice. Make sure your children know you and you know them and that they hear those 7 little phrases listed above. Peace and Joy, Miss Kathy

Cleaning Day!!!

ok, so the time has finally come to really get the apartment finally fixed up. After living here over 8 months I guess it is time to take out the boxes from moving....I've been busy......and everything else is a lot more fun and interesting than cleaning house....My boys and their families are coming down for Mothers Day and also to celebrate my favorite son-in-laws graduation from Harding with his MBA...way to go Josh. Since they are coming they are going to need a place to sleep so there in lies the main reason for cleaning up....I have been very busy this week getting everything ready for the new rotation study in PLUGG. We have added 2 new groups, a light purple and a retro black and white group. That makes 10 groups of kids going to the workshops now. Hopefully since we added 2 more groups the numbers in each group will be more manageable. But since we have new groups all the groups had to be re-grouped and new name tags made etc. so I am about cross-eyed from working on the computer all day and half the night. But it is done and everything is ready for Sunday. I love having the problem of having to make more groups because of more children coming...those kind of problems are blessings. yeah kids and yeah parents for bringing your kids to PLUGG. I am going to take pictures Sunday during PLUGG and post on PV's website. just click on children's ministry and it will take you to the kids site. Blessings

Tonight was a fun evening. One of the youth ministers at Church received his Masters degree and his sweet little wife gave him a party. There were a lot of people who came by to wish Steven the best and it was really a nice time. It was so neat to see so many from the Church drop by and visit it was very obvious that Steven is certainly loved by PV. Way to go Steven.

Look what I did!!!

This is my sweet sister, Karen. Don't we look alike?? Karen has always been there for me no matter what...She is a wonderful big sister and a wonderful Christian Woman.
Several weeks ago I got to go visit my son and his family. They have just moved to the same city that my sister and her family live in. While I was there my sister, Karen, and her daughter Becky along with Becky's daughter Aliese and I took Haleigh to a really cute tea room and we had such fun. This is a picture of Haleigh trying a scone. She wasn't so sure about it but since Grammy wanted her to try it, she did. She is so sweet and so very special to me.

Friday Fun

Yesterday I got to spend the best afternoon that I've had in a while. Little Carter hung out with me and we had such fun. I am almost certain that he said "Grammy". We were playing that very educational game... peek a boo.... and I put the blanket over my face and said "Where's Grammy?" and he pulled the blanket off my face and said "Grammy" as big as Dallas!!! He is gifted just like Haleigh and Rylan (my other two grandchildren)!!!! God is so good to me....

Eggstravaganza

Here is a wonderful Mom explaining to her sweet little girl about the stone that was rolled away from Jesus' tomb.
The hunting of the eggs was in full force.

Saturday was our Eggstravaganza at Church and we had so much fun. Miss. Laurie did an incredible job getting everything together and her helpers were great. The children had a wonderful time and really learned about the true meaning of Easter. Here are Hannah and Ethan at the stamping center decorating their Sacks.

ok. so Kelly and I take Carter out to Wye Mountain to get some great pictures of Carter and the flowers and also for me to practice with my new camera....anyway, Carter was in some kind of mood where he just would not give us a smile no matter what..matter of fact he would look away when we would try to get a picture...it got to be funny because he usually is so easy to get pictures of.....I think we had just about worn him out and he was having nothing more to do with us....right before we left Kelly was talking on the cell phone and I got the picture at the top... I was really having to work to get that smile.....

Kelly and I went out to Miss. Jennnifer's to get our hair looking great and I also get to play with the sweet boys. They both are soooo cute and soooo sweet. I always have the best time loving on both of them.

Grammy's Angel

Here is one of my most favorite pictures of all times. My daughter, Kelly, took this picture of me with her precious little boy and my precious grandson. look at his long eyelashes....I really am blessed to be here close to them and have the privilege of seeing him grow. This last week I was in Edmond, Ok helping my son Brent and his little family move into their new home. I am so happy they are closer now. I got to spend the week playing and loving on Haleigh Brooke who is 3 and Rylan Murray who is 9 months. They are so sweet and we had such a great time. My sister Karen and I took her daughter Becky and Becky's daughter Aleise and Haleigh to this really neat Tea room in Edmond. They had a special tea party for little girls so Haleigh had her own special treats. It was so special. Next time I want to take my daughter and daughter-in-laws there.

Weight Loss Journey

OK, so last summer on my yearly vacation with my two incredible sisters, I realized that I was so overweight I was not a happy camper. My knees hurt, I couldn't walk very much or very far and basically I had a miserable feeling about myself. So....with my new job, new home, I got a new attitude and joined the UAMS weight loss program. This is the same program that Governor Huckabee participated in when he lost over 100 lbs. Well, I am happy to say that I am more than halfway to my goal!!!! Since September I have lost 56 lbs. and I am down 5 yes I said 5 sizes.....wow....I get to feeling pretty good about myself until I see a picture and then I am quickly smacked down to realization that I have a ways to go.....But at least I am on the journey. I will post pictures as I get brave enough to....

Bible Hour, the New Revised Standard Version

For years I have been concerned about the methods we used in teaching Bible Classes during Bible Hour on Sunday Mornings. Not that the content was not there or that the teachers who volunteer were not doing their best. I was just concerned that we were not using the best possible educational methods available. Several times when I asked about changing somethings around and making it more like the education model I was using in my classroom at school, I always was encouraged to go ahead "fix" it. Well, with working full time teaching and raising 3 children I just never felt I had the time to devote to doing the job the way it should be done. I just knew that if we made our Bible Classes more educationally sound and relevant then our children would maybe be more able to apply Bible principals to their everyday life. I want the Bible to come alive to children and that it really becomes a usable guide to live by. So, strange things happen when you let God take control of your life. I now find myself retired from teaching public school and working with an incredible Church that is not only allowing me to do some of the changes that I feel is needed, but encouraging me along in this journey. I feel God's direction in this endeavor. Please pray for the success of this journey.

GPS...yes or no???

Being a new resident of Little Rock there have been times, while driving around town, I basically did not know where I was. Now I really have always felt that God gave me a wonderful sense of direction and I am not used to or like not knowing where everything is and where everyone lives. So after traveling around with Miss Tina in her car with its GPS, I am thinking I may need one of those for my own safe keeping or driving. Anyway, while giving this topic a lot of thought this week I starting thinking how important it is for us to equip our children with their own Spiritual GPS so they never lose their way or get lost on their journey to heaven . A voice from their heart would tell them what to say or do when they were just getting ready to loose control of their tongue, or make a wrong turn on a road they shouldn’t travel. Directions would be given to make a u-turn as soon as possible when negative thoughts or critical ugly actions were about to take place. Even where to go to find the nearest safe place of rest would be spoken in a calm sweet manner. Humm On second thought, maybe we adults need that spiritual GPS just as desperately... or even more.
